SOFTBALL: Falcons trio chosen as Senior All-Stars

Three Westosha Central High School seniors were selected to represent the Falcons at the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association All-Star game held at the Woodside Sports Complex in the Wisconsin Dells.

The 22nd annual softball series, scheduled June 12-13, features the best seniors in the state, including Falcons’ Alyssa Hrncar, Kira Mickelson and Olivia Klean.

All three expect to take the field as members of the Division 1 Green squad.

Hrncar, a right-handed pitcher, recently logged a career-high 13 strikeouts against Elkhorn holds an 8-0 record through 42-2/3 innings, striking out 61 compared to just six walks.

Also, in her senior season, Hrncar has added two shutouts, giving her 61 throughout her four years.

For Mickelson, the senior middle infielder has collected a career-high 11 doubles, belted four home runs with 29 RBI and 27 runs scored.

Entering Thursday’s game against Union Grove, Mickelson has racked up career highs in batting average (.428), on base percentage (.517) and slugging percentage (.893).

Klean, a first baseman, notched her first career home run and triple this season. She has not struck out through 51 at bats.

Furthermore, Klean has scored 14 runs and knocked in another 12.

As part of the All-Star game, each player is required to collect $300 in sponsorships and donations, with funds benefiting Special Olympics of Wisconsin.

Deadline for submitting donations is Friday, May 19, according to a letter on the WFSCA website, which has player fundraising pages.
