Two area teachers bolster tech training

Through the help of Gateway Technical College, 14 area technology education teachers received training and more tools to use inside their classrooms, including Westosha Central High School’s Eric Anderson and Jeff Kehoe of Wilmot Union (Submitted/The Report)

Two area technology education teachers received Snap-On torques to use inside their classrooms after they attended a Gateway Technical Seminar last month.

In addition to Westosha Central High School teacher Eric Anderson, Jeff Kehoe of Wilmot Union also attended the seminar held last month.

According to a Gateway news release, the seminar was possible through a President’s Innovation Grant obtained by the school’s NC3 Coordinator Matt Janisin.

The seminar, titled “Train-the-Trainer,” enriches high school teachers through a guided lecture from college instructors.

The session, which was at Gateway’s Horizon Center for Transportation Technology in Kenosha, provided nationally-certified instruction on Snap-on torque wrenches.

The program’s intent is to help teachers throughout the area provide training to students who plan to enter a technical course of study in college.

Two torque tools were then donated to each of the schools with staff members participating in the workshop so the technical knowledge gained can be used immediately in the classroom.

The two teachers were joined by by:
• Charlene Smith, A.J. Mueller; Tremper (Kenosha
Unified School District)
• Matt Schultz, Eric Sutkay; Lakeview Technology
Academy (Kenosha Unified School District)
• Jon Adams, Indian Trail (Kenosha Unified School.
• Mike Wintz, Whitewater Unified School District.
• Jerry Kobringer, Park (Racine Unified School District)
• Tom Sheeley, Lake Geneva Badger (Lake Geneva Area Schools)
• Aaron Troxell, Waterford Unified
• Nick Baldwin, Union Grove

• Michael Rick, Delavan-Darien High School
