Three dead in Town of Lyons crash

A Sunday evening crash in the Town of Lyons left three people dead after a vehicle lost control and struck a tree, a Walworth County Sheriff’s Office news release states.

In an updated news release issued Monday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Department identified the three as Jason Davis and Hunter Morby, both 17, and 20-year-old Landen Brown, all of Burlington.

Brown was a graduate of Burlington High School, where Morby and Davis were current students.

According to a preliminary report from the Sheriff’s Office, a 2003 Volkswagon Jetta heading eastbound on Cranberry Road, east of Berndt Road, struck a tree and started on fire at about 7 p.m.

When Walworth County deputies arrived, they found the vehicle in flames and three people dead inside, which drew a response from the Lyons and Burlington fire departments.

The crash is still under investigation by the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit and Medical Examiner’s Office, the release states.

The three were tentatively identified following interviews with family members, however, positive identification will rely on confirmation through dental records, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
