Benefit for Ben set for Saturday

Three-year-old Ben Beranis has an extremely rare condition that doctors at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee has yet to identify.

Since birth he has required blood transfusions every three weeks because his bone marrow is not producing red blood cells.

Now Beranis’ bone marrow is failing and he is in need of a bone marrow transplant. In addition, his live is also failing and he needs a live transplant as well. Genetic testing is needed and insurance will not cover that.

To help raise money to cover expenses related to his illness, a Benefit for Ben will be held 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at Rumpoles, 352 E. Main St., Twin Lakes.

Cost is $10 per person and will include a buffet meal of Mostaccioli, Italian beef, tossed salad, garlic bread and snacks. Cash bar will be available. There will be 50/50 raffles and a silent auction.

For more information or to donate contact Lisa Mattson at (815) 861-3163 and Amanda Bettack at (262) 492-8501.
