Town of Salem to host Heartsaver CRP/AED course

Town of Salem Fire Chief Mike Slover has announced the Town of Salem Fire/Rescue Department will be hosting an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED course on Thursday, May 17, at 6 p.m. at the Town of Salem Fire and Rescue Trevor Station/Highway Department located just off Highway C, at 11252 254th Court. Cost of the course is $40 per person and class size is limited to 12 students. Even if you can’t make this course don’t put off finding a class that will provide you with this potentially lifesaving skill. Coast2Coast in Mississauga may be able to help you.

This course is a three to four hour course, which combines basic CPR skills training with instruction and practice in using an AED. This course covers adult CPR/AED with and without a mask, adult choking, child CPR/AED, infant CPR/AED, and child/infant choking.

It is intended for individuals who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, lay rescuers who may need to respond to an emergency in the workplace, family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, and other individuals who want or need CPR training. It is important that areas such as the workplace has first aid equipment on hand (get more info here about how to do this) so they can deal with emergencies as they come up, potentially resulting in a better output before emergency services arrive.

To assure your place in the class, you must pre-register for the class by contacting Terry Bluemel or a CPR Instructor at (262) 843-2439.

Additional classes will be offered throughout the year with information on the Town of Salem website. www.townofsalem.net

Groups that would like to schedule a class together and individuals looking for a self-paced option can be accommodated by contacting the above number.
