Free CERT classes offered

South Eastern Wisconsin Citizen Corps has developed a new free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class.

Traditionally classes are provided to individuals; teaching them how to be prepared during a disaster, helping themselves, their families and their neighbors.

The new class is for businesses in Racine and Kenosha counties.  This class addresses hazards to which people are vulnerable in the business setting as either a business owner or as an employee.

The first two free classes are as follows:

• Racine County: Racine Civic Center, Festival Hall, 5 Fifth Street, Racine. May 22, 23 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

• Kenosha County: Albany Chicago Company, 8200 100th Street, Pleasant Prairie. May 5, May 19 and June 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Registration is required to participate.

For registration forms or for more information contact Moira Moon, Citizen Corps Coordinator by phone at (262) 886-9612, by fax at (262) 886-9632, by e-mail at [email protected].

Participants must plan on attending all three classes at the venue of choice to obtain a certificate of completion from the Office of Justice Assistance.
