RBCHS to host groundbreaking ceremony May 16

The Board of Education of Richmond-Burton Community High School No. 157 invites the community to attend the groundbreaking of the new gymnasium addition.

Groundbreaking ceremonies will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the school, 8311 N. Route 31, Richmond.

In June construction is expected to begin on the 30,650 sq. ft. addition, which will feature an indoor track, locker rooms for athletes, storage and extra office space.

Once complete, the modern office space is expected to be fully furnished with office furniture including brand new office chairs, desks, computers, printers, and much more.

Extensive storage space will also be added so that all paperwork and valuables including awards and trophies can be stored safely and securely.

The office space will provide the perfect environment for administrative staff from the school to carry out their duties and take part in meetings in total privacy.

The offices are also being designed with revolutionary interior design practices in mind.

This will ensure that the space is used in the most conducive and productive way.

This news will no doubt be a fantastic opportunity for the administrative department at the school to expand its operations.

The addition had languished in limbo for two years as discussions on the proposal took place. The addition, which will be on the north side of the existing gym, will cost $5.8 million and will be paid with surplus district funds.

The current gym is 10,000 sq. ft. was constructed in 2000.

All developments relating to the project will be released in due course so stay tuned for future updates.
