If it’s spring in Wisconsin, that must be hot asphalt you smell.

During Monday’s regular board meeting the Twin Lakes Village Board approved the village engineer’s recommendations for the 2012 street resurfacing project.

The village accepted a low bid of $168,217.50 from B.R. Amon and Sons from Elkhorn. Payne and Dolan of Kenosha submitted a bid of $196.863.

The project includes work on OakRidge to Bayview to Swanson; Circle Drive; sanitary sewer repairs, for a total base total of $113,780.

The second phase of the project includes work on Elm and Maple Court, Barry Road, Wilmot to Chapel, for an additional $28,180.

The bid stipulates Amon must do any needed repairs to lawns and driveways that may be impacted by the work.

A 5 percent contingency was added to the bid for road surface work and 15 percent was added for any sewer work. The cost will be divided with $97,800 to the general fund and $54,000 to the sewer fund.

During the meeting the board also approved a request from the Triangle Bar to allow alcohol consumption only outside its premises on Saturday, June 16, for a farewell party for Sgt. Neal Chapman, who is being deployed overseas. A tent will be erected and fencing. No sale of alcohol will be allowed outside.
