Chamber gets ready for Business in the Park

By Annette Newcomb~Editor

The Twin Lakes Chamber and Business Association currently has two big projects in the hopper.

First up, the Garden Gate art project. In upcoming weeks you may see creatively decorated garden gates displayed at Keller Williams Premier Realty, 334 E. Main; Associated Bank, 213 N. Lake Avenue; BP Gas Station, 475 North Lake St.; and the Community Library, 110 S. Lake Ave.

The gates, which were produced and donated by Twin Lakes resident Stan Tortenson, have been decorated by the Lakewood School Art Club, Messiah Lutheran Pre-School, and sponsored by Studio C Art and Design; Mrs. Cates’ first-grade class at Lakewood and the Twin Lakes Community Class at

“Each is decorated totally different and each one is very cleaver. It’s amazing the amount of talent there is in the community and I think people will really enjoy them,” said Joanne O’Reilly of the Chamber.

Art lovers are asked to vote for their favorite by calling the Chamber at 877-2220; emailing [email protected] or dropping a note in the Chamber’s drop box, located outside the office, at 249 E. Main St. The winner will receive a monetary prize yet to be determined. The gates will be on display until Aug. 24.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. The garden gates will be available for purchase through the silent auction, which will be held during the Business in the Park, set for Saturday, Aug. 25.

Business in the Park will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Area businesses will be showcasing their services. This is a good way to spread the word about your business and as a community member, a good way to learn what kind of services are available right here. There will be a farmer’s market, children’s area, retail and crafts and food.

Booths will be set up in the public parking lot next to the Chamber office. There is still exhibit space. Call the Chamber at 877-2220.
