Silver Lake road projects begin

Village of Silver Lake Board President Jeff Albrecht reminds residents that road construction and resurfacing that will soon be starting within the village.

The affected areas include School Street north from Dells Road to the village limits on both sides of the boulevard; North Riverside Drive from Fifth Street (to the south of the curve) to the northern limits of the village. Also, the parking lot at the Village Hall adjacent to Lake Street.

Many of the storm drains, pipes and drainage areas under and adjacent to this construction will also be upgraded, repaired or replaced.

Albrecht noted in a recent village newsletter that, “This roadwork is very badly needed and will improve our village for years to come. The replacement of the parking lot will create more spaces and bring the village into compliance with state and federal requirements for handicapped parking.”

He said the village engineering and the construction firms are committed to keeping inconveniences to a minimum and allow access to driveways along the route open to residents. Construction will generally be completed by 6 p.m. on most days and occur on weekdays.

The near term construction plan is as follows: culvert work was slated to start Aug. 13 on School Street for one to two days then Riverside through Aug. 24.

School Street excavation for north bound will start Aug. 20 until complete. Construction should be completed by mid-fall.

If you have question about the construction, maps of the affected area can be viewed at the village hall.
