Volunteers sought to clean lakes Sept. 8

Area Boy Scouts under the guidance of Rhett Suhre are seeking volunteers to help clean up the natural resources of Lake Mary and Lake Elizabeth and portions downstream.

Suhre said volunteers will kayak/canoe/row/swim/walk the entire shoreline and shallow areas of both lakes to pick up any trash left over from the summer season.

Everyone is asked to meet at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at Lance Park for coffee and doughnuts. The Boy Scouts will make a short presentation about the lake and impact of water pollution.

Volunteers will then be divided into teams, based on the number of participants, and work their way to the Sand Bar at the south end of Lake Elizabeth where there will be food and drink specials for the volunteers.

Bring your own mode of transportation, personal flotation device, and reusable  coffee/water /beverage container.

Volunteers are asked to RSVP to [email protected] or (262) 716-1418.  Donations are also accepted to help cover the cost of food and related expenses.

If it rains, volunteers are asked to come back at 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at Lance Park.
