Oct. 21

Family trouble

      at 7:27 p.m., police were dispatched to Edgewood Drive to solve a complaint regarding a subject’s hat. The female complainant told police that her ex-husband had her son’s hat and would not give it back. She was supposed to pick it up in the mailbox, but it was not there.

The ex-husband said he could not find the hat, and he invited the police in to try and look for it as well. The hat was never found.

Suspicious vehicle

      at 9:05 p.m., a complainant on W. Northwater Street called in a black Mercedes SUV with its hazards on. He had seen the car drive by once then stop a second time and put on its hazards. He didn’t want to take chances because property had been stolen from him before.

Nothing appeared to be stolen, and the vehicle was gone when police got to the residence.

 

Oct. 22

Theft

      at 12:29 a.m., at a bar on Silver Lake Road, a female employee reported her purse stolen. She had set it down to go back to the kitchen, and five minutes later, her purse was gone. Patrons could only tell her that an older and a younger couple had come in, ordered a drink, and left.

The complainant’s purse had $100 and three credit cards in it. The cards were cancelled, and police told her to call if she had any identity theft problems.

Neighbor trouble

      at 8:45 p.m., police met a woman on S. Fourth Street claiming that her neighbors have gotten hostile. They had been opening and slamming doors to cause a disturbance after the main door had accidentally been left open. Upon looking out to see what happened, the woman was confronted by her neighbor, who proceeded to yell at and threaten her.

The woman was unsure as to whether or not to file a complaint, and when an officer followed up with her at a later date, she could not be reached. No action was taken.

Rescue call

      at 10:28 p.m., on S Cogswell Drive, officers were dispatched because a woman was seizing. A male let them into the woman’s house, saying that he has a seizing condition but had not been taking her medication. She was transported to Burlington Hospital by Silver Lake Rescue.

 

Oct. 23

Rescue call

      at 1:38 a.m., the police and a rescue squad were dispatched to Anita Court where a diabetic woman was found unconscious. She was transported to the hospital.

Rescue call

      at 2:11 p.m., a woman called in needing assistance at E. North Street. She had hurt her leg the previous day and was in a lot of pain. She did not trust herself to drive to the hospital. She was transported to the hospital after being assessed.

Trouble with kids

      at 11:05 p.m., on Railroad Court, an officer observed four young men walking on Park Street toward the railroad tracks. Two men then flagged down the officer, saying how the kids were running around their property.

The young men were stopped and complied with requests to adhere to curfew and be respectful of other people’s property and time. No further action was taken.

 

Oct. 24

Trouble with kids

      at 4:30 p.m., a complainant called in saying there were kids shooting a BB gun outside the building on E. Northwater Street. Four juveniles were found shooting at bottles in the back because there were small children playing in the front of the building. The juveniles were informed they must desist, and the guns were turned over to one of the youth’s stepfather.

Theft

      at 6:30 p.m., an officer was flagged down by a marina owner on Silver Lake Road saying that he just noticed a radio and other equipment had been stolen out of one of the boats he was in charge of. The owner of the boat was called and informed to see if he wanted to file a complaint.

Assist citizen

      at 11:15 p.m., on S. Cogswell Drive, police met with a female complainant saying she had a disagreement with her daughter earlier and that she wanted police to check her apartment before entering it. Her daughter had been abusive towards her on previous occasions, and she feared that her daughter would think she was watching the children at her place.

Police checked and found no one there. They continued checking throughout the evening.

 

Oct. 26

Family trouble

      at 10:40 p.m., on W. Northwater Street, a female complainant called in saying her daughter’s husband showed up at her house while she was at work. The husband allegedly has psychological problems, so the complainant was concerned for her daughter’s safety.

 

Oct. 27

Forgery

      at 12:13 p.m., complainant called from S. First Street saying she was power of attorney over her daughter’s checking account and recently noticed checks had been stolen and one had been forged, signed, and cashed without her consent. The investigation revealed it was the complainant’s son who was responsible.

 

Oct. 28

Check welfare

      at 11:30 a.m., police were called to S. Cogswell Drive where multiple people had phoned in on account of a small boy running around with no clothes on. Upon finding the correct apartment, it was determined that the small boy’s mother was asleep while the boy ran around naked.

Assistance

      at 12:50 p.m., Silver Lake officers assisted Salem officers who had found a small amount of marijuana and a glass pipe in the vehicle of a traffic stop. The motorist was taken into the station, and the marijuana weighed in a 9 grams.

 

Oct. 30

Warrant

      at 2:12 a.m., on E. Elm Street, officers picked up a man with a warrant out. This was a Federal Warrant issued by the United States Military for Military Desertion.

 

Nov. 1

Neighbor trouble

      at 1:50 p.m., officers were met at the station by a woman complainant living on E. North Street. Her husband had been confronted by a neighbor who became aggressive due to the fact their dog had bee loose earlier. The neighbor began swinging and threatened to shoot the dog.

Because this took place in front of her young children and because she was unsure as to if this would get worse in the future, she just wanted to make the police aware. No further action was taken.

 

Nov. 2

Warrant

      at 7 p.m., officers picked up a woman on S. First Street who had three warrants out on her for traffic violations. She paid $375.60 in cash for the warrants, and she was released from custody.
