Mid-State Equipment earns Rural Lifestyle Dealership of the Year

Mid-State Equipment has received Rural Lifestyle Dealer’s top honor of Dealership of the Year for its sound performance and innovative approaches to serving the rural lifestyle market.

Mid-State Equipment is a full line John Deere dealership with seven locations across south-central Wisconsin, run by brother-and-sister team Bryan Hanson and Chris Frodel. Mid-State has locations in Salem, as well as Columbus, Jackson, Janesville, Prairie du Sac, and Watertown.

Mid-State Equipment was established in 1974 in Columbus by Curt and Linda Hanson. Mid-State began with this one location, and just three full time employees.

The company has grown today to seven locations and over 180 employees. Second generation owners, Bryan and Erin Hanson and Chris and Scott Frodel continue to grow the business while keeping true to the values of a family owned business.

The dealership offers an extensive inventory of both new and used equipment for homeowners, large property owners, commercial, light industrial and agricultural customers. Sales, parts, service, and rental are available at all locations to keep customer operations efficient and productive.

Mid-State Equipment defined its strategy to the Rural Lifestyle Dealer publication with one word: Focus. The dealership offers everything from weed trimmers to forage harvesters, but rather than having sales team members learn every detail about every piece of equipment, they are asked to specialize in certain areas in order to give expert advice and information to customers.

The company motto, “You Can Count on Us” has become ingrained into the Mid-State company culture.

“I know we can’t have 100 percent customer satisfaction, but that is our goal. Every customer is important,” says Bryan Hanson, Mid-State Equipment president.
