Salem Grade School 4-year-old and 5-year-old kindergarten registration opens

Registration for 4K and 5K at Salem Grade School is fast approaching. Salem offers a 4K program for students four years old on or before Sept. 1, 2013. Student must register to attend this half-day program. All students five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2013 and plan on attending a public school must register to attend Salem School District (current Salem 4K student do not need to register).

Registration will take place from Jan. 21 to Feb. 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. schooldays. Parents are urged to register their children at the school during these hours.

Parents must bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate.  Parents will receive health and dental forms to be completed by the family physician and dentist. An immunization card is to be completed at home. These forms are to be returned to school during the screening period or no later than Aug. 1, 2013.

In order to plan accurately for the coming fall, school officials urge parents’ cooperation in registering at the assigned times. Anyone who knows of families with eligible children is asked to notify them of registration. Anyone who cannot register during the weeks indicated is asked to contact the school office as soon as possible to make other arrangements.

All new registrations will screened. Screening is scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, and Thursday, April 18.   At the time of registration you will be asked to make an appointment for the screening.

Anyone having a question as to which school district a child will attend should call the school office at (262) 843-2356. We ask that verification of residency within the Salem School District be presented at the time of registration.
