Information from County of McHenry regarding Flood Disaster and Recovery

Many residents of McHenry County are feeling the effects of the recent heavy rain and flooding. McHenry County and the McHenry County Emergency Management Agency are actively working as this flood event is occurring and preparing for recovery.

Currently, the County is working with townships, municipalities, the state, and other entities. The County and the State of Illinois have declared McHenry County a disaster area. Preparation is being made for the important future programs and financial assistance to the counties and individuals that are affected by this flood event. Preparing and cooperating on an individual level is important. Ready Illinois provides information on their website regarding flooding recovery. Each area of the County may start their recovery process at different times because of different water levels. As flood waters retreat, part of the recovery process will be assessment teams going to affected flooded areas and assessing the damage. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with these teams which will in the end aid you in the public assistance funding process, part of the disaster declaration process. Each team will have a credentialed representative that will identify them with McHenry County or the Emergency Management Agency.
