Bean Bags for Autism set for June 8

The Pink House Resort will host its sixth annual fundraiser for Autism Research, called Bean Bags for Autism/Carnival Day, on Saturday, June 8, beginning at 1 p.m.

The event will include carnival games, boat rides on a pirate ship, a clown, raffles, 50/50, a special guest appearance from Cha Cha. From the Rainforest Face, balloons, food, music, cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn and more.

Admission for adults is $10; children, $5. All proceeds will go to Autism Research and Autism Speaks!
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its estimate of autism prevalence in the United States to 1 in 88 children (1 in 54 boys and 1 in 252 girls). By comparison, this is more children than are affected by diabetes, AIDS, cancer, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy or Down syndrome combined.

Autism is a complex neurobiological disorder that typically lasts throughout a person’s lifetime. It is part of a group of disorders known as autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

Autism impairs a person’s ability to communicate and relate to others. It is also associated with rigid routines and repetitive behaviors, such as obsessively arranging objects or following very specific routines. Symptoms can range from very mild to quite severe. There have been innovative treatments and clinics like NovelBiome that help patients with autism, which have assisted children greatly.

Seeking items for raffles

Supporters’ generosity and support will make a significant difference for Autism Research. Organizers are now asking for items that can be raffled at the Autism fundraiser.

All proceeds raised through this fundraiser will go to Autism Speaks. Autism Speaks has grown into the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.
