The Westosha Central softball team has been scoring runs in bunches so far in 2012.

And that certainly didn’t change last weekend.

Central put up 31 more runs in three victories at the two-day Poynette Invitational. The Falcons defeated Oconomowoc 10-0, Poynette 13-9 and Rice Lake 8-0 to run their record to 11-0 overall.

The Falcons took an 8-0 Southern Lakes Conference record into a road doubleheader Monday at Badger. Results were unavailable by press time.

“We accomplished several things up here (in Poynette),” Central co-coach Tom Lampe said. “We got playing time for our players. We were able to get innings for all our pitchers, and we beat three ranked teams. It was a good weekend.”

Against Oconomowoc, the Falcons scored in four of their five at bats to cruise to the 10-0, five inning victory. The Falcons led 5-0 before they iced the win with a five-run outburst in the fifth.

Kayla Konwent led the barrage with three hits, including two home runs, three runs scored and three RBI.

“Kayla has been consistent all year for us,” Lampe said. “She has been a wonderful addition for us.”

Liz Fonk added two hits, two runs scored and an RBI, followed by Brittney Blazich with two hits, including a triple, and three RBI.

Blazich’s triple keyed a five-run fifth inning.

Sarah Fonk went the distance to earn the win, as she allowed two hits, a walk and struck out 11.

Host Poynette, always one of the top Division 3 programs in the state, threatened to hand the Falcons their first loss of the spring in the second game.

Poynette led 9-7 heading into the seventh inning, before the Falcons erupted for six runs to rally for the 13-9 victory.

Blazich had four hits and four runs scored, while Konwent added three more hits, including a triple and another home run, and four RBI. Larkin Langston had two hits and two runs scored, while Taylor Bergles had two hits, including a double, and three RBI.

Three pitchers worked in the circle for the Falcons. Hailey Spoerl allowed three hits, a walks and struck out one in two innings, followed by Bergles, who allowed five earned runs, two hits, five walks and struck out three in three innings.

Miranda Page picked up the win, as she allowed three hits in two innings.

Central closed the tournament with an 8-0 win over Rice Lake. The Falcons scored three times in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back.
