Nov. 10

Animal at large

at 6:35 p.m., on S. Second Street, a complainant called in an attack on her dog. She was walking her dog when two other dogs ran out of their home and attacked hers. Officers spoke to the attacking dogs’ owner, who assured the police that it was just an accident. Officers warned the dogs’ owner.

 

Nov. 11

Rescue call

at 2:55 p.m., a female subject on Silver Lake Road called for rescue, complaining of neck pain. The subject was having spasms in her neck and shoulders due to recent treatments she had received. Silver Lake Rescue arrived, assessed the woman, and transporter her to the hospital;

Animal complaint

at 5:27 p.m., police responded to E. Depot Street where a complainant reported a starving, trapped cat on her neighbor’s property. An officer went next door to try and find this cat, but the owners were not home, and no cat could be found. The police advised the complainant to call again if this persisted.

 

Nov. 12

Damage to property

at 12:20 a.m., a complainant on E. Lake Street called in, saying that someone had shot at her window with a BB gun. The damage had been caused the previous night around midnight, according to the complainant. She did not wish to sign a complaint unless the person who shot her window is found;

Animal cruelty

at 1:12 p.m., officers responded to the same address on E. Depot Street on a call that there was a starving cat in a trap. The officer walked the property and still did not see a cat in that state;

Possession with intent to deliver

at 4:38 p.m., upon making a traffic stop on S. Cogswell Drive, the operator of the vehicle was found to be in possession on marijuana with intent to deliver it. There was also drug paraphernalia  found. The driver was found to be on probation for possession from an earlier incident. He was subsequently arrested;

Rescue call

at 8:18 p.m., a male subject called in for rescue from S. Cogswell Drive, advising he was dizzy and felt like he was having a stroke. Silver Lake Rescue arrived, assessed the man, and transported him to the hospital.

 

Nov. 13

Rescue call

at 10 a.m., on W. Depot Street, officers were called in because a man had fallen and could not get up. The man was found to have stage-4 cancer and to be very weak. The rescue squad responded and transported the man to Burlington Hospital;

Check welfare

at 5:05 p.m., an officer was dispatched to E. Northwater Street to check the welfare of a female subject who had threatened to take her life via text messages to her mother. The subject in question was contacted, and she said that the text was a cry for attention to her mother.

Adult crisis was contacted as well to counsel the female subject. The subject’s boyfriend volunteered to stay at her apartment for the night;

Suspicious activity

at 10:30 p.m., a complainant on 5th Court told an officer that he had heard loud bangs in his neighbor’s yard. An officer responded and was told that a boy was lighting firecrackers in the yard with his mother.

 

Nov. 14

Check welfare

at 6:14 p.m., an anonymous complainant called in from E. Larch Street, saying that there were people moving stuff out of his elderly neighbor’s house. Because of the neighbor’s slight dementia, he was concerned. Officers responded and found the man’s brother’s sister moving her stuff out of the house so a room could be rented out. Nothing suspicious was occurring;

Possession of marijuana

at 9:08 p.m., during a speeding violation stop on County Road F, police found the owner of the vehicle to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The owner was then arrested and cited.

 

Nov. 16

Family trouble

at 12:07 a.m., an officer was dispatched to E. Northwater Street when a female complainant called in saying her father was yelling and threatening her with his cane. The officer learned that, when asked for $20 for gas, the father became irate and accused her of cheating on her husband with an African-American man.

The officer talked to the father, who had been paying his daughter’s rent and bills; he said he refused to any more because of her adultery. The daughter later admitted to the adultery, but there was no physical crime committed, so the officer left his information and cleared;

Truancy

at 9:20 a.m., a mother on E. Poplar Street called in, saying her son would not go to school. The police responded and took the boy to high school in their squad. The boy did not want to go to school at all, and upon contacting his attendance counselor, it was determined the counselor was in the process of sending down habitual truancy charges to Juvenile Intake. This took the place of any citation.

 

Nov. 17

Family trouble

at 6:58 p.m., officers responded to S. Cogswell Street where they were advised the complainant’s former boyfriend had broken in to her apartment and assaulted her current boyfriend with a crow bar. The suspect fled the residence, and investigation is pending.
