Morning T’ai Chi Chuan – an informal, introductory T’ai Chi class offered

Join Mike Stancato, an experienced T’ai Chi Chuan instructor, in Morning T’ai Chi Chuan – an informal, introductory T’ai Chi class offered free of charge.

Classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8 to 9 a.m. and will be held in Stancato’s front yard at 8616-226 Avenue, Salem (enter from County Highway AH next to Montgomery Lake).

‘Morning T’ai Chi’ is an informal, introductory class emphasizing basic principles and structural alignment applicable to all human activity, including walking, playing, working, martial arts, etc.  The initial T’ai Chi practice set used in the class will be Peter Ralston’s “Mini 12.” Other, more sophisticated, sets will follow, as needed.                   Required reading: “Zen Body-Being: An Enlightened Approach to Physical Skill, Grace and Power,” by Peter Ralston.  Wear loose, comfortable clothing and minimal shoes.

Class Size: limited to the number of people that can fit into Stancato’s garage if it rains.

Stancato has been practicing T’ai Chi for about 25 years and conducting classes for about five years.  In addition to the Peter Ralston “Mini 12” set, he also does the Beijing Simplified 24, the Chen Man Ching 37 and the 81 move Chen Taijiquan Practical Method set.
