County seeks input for 2040 long-range transportation plan

The McHenry County Division of Transportation (MCDOT) is developing the County’s 2040 Long-Range Transportation Plan.

When complete, the Plan will provide a blueprint for future transportation decisions, prioritizing which and when projects are built, maintaining the existing transportation system, and expanding transportation options, a county press release says.

At this stage of the planning process, a list of goals and transportation projects to meet those goals has been developed with the help of the public.

With limited transportation funding available, there may be worthy projects that will not be able to be funded between now and 2040.

As such, input is being sought at all levels to help prioritize these projects. In particular, the MCDOT is interested in knowing project priorities and how well you think the project meets the goals and objectives of the plan.  Please visit the 2040 Transportation Plan website and carefully review, rank, and comment on the proposed projects (Go to http://www.2040mchenrycountyplan.org/projects).

Residents are asked to rate the projects and add comments to the website by Tuesday, June 18.

Projects

Over the last year and a half, numerous project ideas have been submitted by the public for consideration.  Additional projects are being pursued by agencies throughout the County.

These projects have been mapped here to provide an opportunity to review, rank, comment, and suggest additional projects. Residents are asked to take time to think about the transportation needs of the County and the goals and objectives for this plan.

Select a project, rank it by selecting the total number of stars (1 being less of a priority and 5 being of great priority), and provide comments.  Any comment is welcome.
