Summer activities at Johnsburg Library

Travel!” Summer Reading Program: Have fun with this year’s travel-themed summer reading program for adults and youth.  Complete the program requirements and you’ll be rewarded with prizes that include a spin on our giant prize wheel. You’ll also be entered in drawings for some fabulous grand prizes.  Pick up reading logs and information starting June 3.

● Cooking Demonstrations and Tastings: Join Michael Maddox, former chef at Le Titi de Paris, as you sample fabulous recipes from around the world. Registration is required and begins on the 1st of each month: Tuesday, June 18: Italy; Tuesday, July 30:  France; Tuesday, Aug. 13: Spain.

● Magician Great Scott and the Magical Archaeology Adventure: Thursday, June 20, 2 p.m.: Travel to Egypt and go on a magical archaeological dig. Magician Great Scott will lead you on this thrilling adventure.  Registration begins June 1.

● Vacation in Chicago: Saturday, June 29, 2 p.m.: Who says you need to get on a plane to take a vacation? Join travel expert and author, Max Grinnell, for an exciting presentation on the best ways to spend your vacation in Chicago. One person in attendance will win a $20 Visa gift card to spend on their “vacation”. Registration begins June 1.

● “Minute to Win It”: Saturday, Aug. 17, 2 p.m. For ages 12 to 18. Based on the popular TV game show, contestants take part in a series of 60-second challenges that use objects that are commonly available around the house. Play games straight from the show.  Prizes will be awarded and refreshments served.  Registration begins Aug. 1.
