KATHRYN M. YEAGER

Kathryn  “Katy” M.  Yeager, 80, Silver Lake, died Nov. 27, 2011, at her home.

She was born Feb. 18 1931, in Silver Lake, to the late Albert and Doris (Schwartz) Miller. She has been a lifelong resident in the area.

Katy had worked for Gander Mountain as a packer and for many years she was a receptionist for the late Dr. Chester DeWitt in Silver Lake. As a homemaker she loved to cook and be with her family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing the piano.

She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary of Post 8375 and president, for many years, of the Salem Mound Cemetery Association.

On April 1, 1978, she married Orville F. Yeager in Silver Lake; preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1997.

She is survived by her children Jan House, Robin (William) Yonushatis and Cindy (Jack) Hill all of Silver Lake; grandchildren, Cari Yonushatis, Jack (Nicki) Hill, III, Katherine (Ken) Tackitt, Tara Hill and Ryan Yonushatis; great-grandchildren, Briana, Haven, Jack, IV, Lexi, Serenity, Charlie, Brody, Brystol and Brayden; her sister Ruth (the late Elmer) Gerber of Silver Lake and her brother Eugene (Jan) Miller of Camp Lake.

She was further preceded in death by her first husband Roger Elverman and her sister, Marilyn Jerde.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday Dec. 1, at the Strang Funeral Home, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, Ill., with burial to follow in Salem Mound Cemetery, Silver Lake.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, with VFW Auxiliary services at 7 p.m.
