ART L. KOEHN

Arthur L. Koehn, 102, of Sanford, Fla., and formerly of Twin Lakes, died July 26, 2013, at the Atria at Lake Forest Assisted Living in Sanford.

Arthur was born on May 15, 1911, in the Town of Lyons, to the late Herman W. and Amelia (Kanis) Koehn.  On May 18, 1933, in Woodstock, Ill., he married Guinevere Love.

She preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 1965. On April 27, 1968, in St. John’s Catholic Church in Twin Lakes, he married Ruth C. Folan-Breen.  Arthur lived in Randall Township and Wilmot, before moving to Twin Lakes in 1942.

He worked as Supervisor of Public Works for the Village of Twin Lakes for 31 years. He also worked for the Jefferson Ice Co., leading horses.  Art was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Twin Lakes and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 6554.

He was a Lifetime Member of the Twin Lakes Volunteer Fire Dept., and Rescue Squad where he joined in April of 1947. He served as Fire Chief from 1978 to 1979. He was a member of the Walworth County Firefighter’s Association. Art served as a constable for the Village of Twin Lakes and served on the Mound Prairie Cemetery Board. He was Man of the Year for the Knights of Columbus and an Honorary Member of the Twin Lakes American Legion Post No. 544. He was named an outstanding Citizen for the Village of Twin Lakes.  He was a member of the Powers Lake Sportsmen’s Club.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, Arthur “Buster” (Beverly) Koehn of Arkdale; son-in-law Russell Say of Twin Lakes; step-children William (Marie) Breen of Sanford, Fla.; James (Mary) Breen of Padre Island, Texas; Daniel Breen of Lake Geneva; Sally Jean (Wes) Chapman of Roseville, Calif., and Kathy (Eldon) Hans of Roseville, Calif.; 24 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Bristow of Chicago Ridge, Ill.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Say; brothers Clarence, Louis, Herman, Henry and Walter and sisters Margaret and Edna.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at St. John’s Catholic Church 701 N. Lake Ave. Twin Lakes. Interment will be in Mound Prairie Cemetery.

The Koehn Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Home, 620 Legion Drive, Twin Lakes.
