RUTH E. WINFIELD

Ruth E. Winfield, 90, of Kenosha, died peacefully May 17, 2014, at Hospitality Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Kenosha.

She was born Feb. 21, 1924, in Antioch, Ill., to the late Hugo and Edith (Olson) Gussarson, moving to Kenosha, in 1946. She then moved to Bristol, in 1954, and settling back in Kenosha in 1995. Prior to her retirement, Ruth had worked as a waitress for 25 years at Bristol Oaks Country Club, Bristol. Ruth had also volunteered for many years at Hazel Dell School and enjoyed: embroidery, painting and gardening.

On May 26, 1945, she married Orville Winfield in Antioch; he preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1994.

Survivors include her children: Kathy (Jan) Rogers of Kenosha; Edward (Kathy) Winfield of Brighton; Daniel (Myra) Winfield of Richmond, Va., and Steven (Sharon) Winfield of Bloomer; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by brothers: Otto and Ralph (Ruthella) Gussarson.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, at the Strang Funeral Home, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, Ill.

Interment will follow in Hosmer Cemetery, Bristol. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Make a Wish Foundation of Wisconsin or Shriners Children’s Hospital are appreciated in Ruth’s memory.
