Visit Smokey Bear on his birthday, Saturday, Aug. 9, 9-11:30 a.m. at Richard Bong State Recreation Area.
Drop in between 9 and 11 a.m. to celebrate 70 years of fire safety with Smokey and the Kansasville Fire and Rescue Department.
It will be fun for the whole family as you visit and take photos with Smokey Bear to wish him happy birthday.
Make sure to bring your favorite teddy bear to enter him or her in the teddy bear contest. There will be fire safety games, Smokey crafts and of course birthday cake. Sparky the Fire Dog will also be here with the Kansasville Fire and Rescue squad members and you can see a fire engine and other firefighting equipment.
Event is free but you will need a park admission sticker to attend any of the events.
