County sheriff’s race on Tuesday’s ballot

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s race will be decided Tuesday, Aug. 12, because both candidates, current sheriff David Beth and Sgt. David Zoerner are running as Republicans and there are no Democratic candidates in the running.

Voters should remember when casting votes on Tuesday to stick with one party on the ballot. In other words, voters can’t vote for a Democratic candidate for the First Congressional District (Rob Zerban or Amardeep Kaleka, both hoping to challenge Republican Paul Ryan in the fall), then vote for a Republican candidate for sheriff.

If a voter designates a party, but casts votes for other parties, only the votes cast in the designed party will county. If a party is not designated and votes are cast for candidates in more than on party, no votes will be counted.

Here are your sheriff’s candidates:

• Sheriff David Beth

Incumbent Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth Kenosha is a 32-year veteran of the department. In 1982, at the age of 21, he began his career in the Patrol Division. At that time he was the youngest Deputy hired by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.

In 1989, he became the county’s first DARE officer. In November of 2002, Beth was elected 58th Sheriff. To date, Beth has won three consecutive elections and is currently the county’s longest serving sheriff.
