It’s time for Days of Swine and Roses: Kenosha County Fair returns Aug. 13-17

This year’s Kenosha County Fair returns Aug. 13-17 at the fairgrounds in Wilmot. Look for your free Kenosha County Fair guide in this week’s Report.
The Kenosha County Fair offers something for everyone, from live music, open class judging and 4-H projects, animal judging and auction, and let’s not forget the Fairest of the Fair contest.
Then there’s the IRA Outlaw Springs plus min sprints modified and the always popular Combine Demo Derby.
Fairest of the Fair will be crowned on Aug. 13. The 2013 Fairest of the Fair, Aliabeth Elfering will be crowning the new Fairest.
There’s plenty of food on the Midway, including deepfried Twinkies, corn dogs, corn on the cob. If you have a hankering for something else, try the pie auction in the animal show ring, beginning at 8 a.m. Aug.16.
The Pie Auction pies and desserts and quilts and even wagons filled with treasures from local and county dignitaries, champion bakers, and 4-H’ers will be auctioned at this event for the entire family. Proceeds to be used for the building fund. Public invited. Come and join in the bidding fun.
This year’s live music at the Creekside Stage includes Four Grand on Aug. 13; The Toys, Aug. 14; Up All Night Aug. 15; Bella Cain, Aug. 16 and Tim Kash Aug.16 Burro Creek and Class of ’62 both perform Aug. 17.
Fairgrounds are open from 8 a.m. to midnight every night. The Kenosha County Fair has an all pay policy. Everyone who enters the fairgrounds must pay the daily admission price.
Adults (ages 12 and over), $9; Children (ages 8-11), $5; Children (ages 7 and under), free. Daily tickets are only sold at the gates on the day of entry. Adult season pass — $30; Special Admission Pricing
Wednesday, Aug. 13 is “Senior Day” 62 and over are admitted to the Fair for just $6.
From 8 a.m. to noon 8 bring in two non-perishable food items, admission $5;
Thursday, Aug. 14, from 8 a.m. to noon. Bring in two non-perishable food items, admission $5. The admission fee is non-refundable.
Entertainment is free with paid admission. IRA Racing on Friday and Saturday requires a $5 Grandstand fee (with paid Fair Admission). All others are free. No refunds for cancellation of any scheduled entertainment due to unforeseen circumstances.
Free Parking in general parking; Season Parking Pass $10.
The truck and tractor pull and combine demo derby will be held Wednesday, Aug 13 and 14. Free with fair admission.
On Friday, Aug. 15, the IRA Outlaw Sprints arrive. There is a $5 admission to this event, adults only. Active military with ID and kids 11 and under are free. Fair admission must be paid to attend this event.
On Saturday, Aug.16, IRA Outlaw Roger Iles Tribute plus modified. Admission same as Friday.
The demolition derby will take place Sunday, Aug.17, at 1:30 and 5 p.m.
The Talent Show at the free acts stage will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. Open to amateurs 7 to adult, instrumental music, vocal music and miscellaneous classes in both solo and group. A special class for out-of-state groups.

The large animal sale will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, in the animal showring. The small animal sale begins at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17 in the small animal ring.
Daily activities include Nicks Kid Show, Show Me Pig Racings, Bear Mountain, Jim Mitchell Magic, Muttville Dogs, Exotic Tiger Show, TaDa the Clown and Roving Robots, exotic petting zoo, Watsons Woods Wood Carving, Barnyard Farm and Fun and Petting zoo, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, and Command Unit Display, bomb unit demo, taser demo, K-9 demo and Bear Car and TRT Gear.
Don’t forget about the large Midway with a variety of games and contests and multiple carnival rides.
