Wolf Lake trail run is Sunday at Bong Recreation Area

It’s not too late to sign up on Sunday, Sept. 28, at Richard Bong State Recreation Area for a beautiful fall run/hike (3.9 miles). Funds raised are earmarked for the planned Nature Explore Classroom – a natural play area for families.

The event will begin and end at the beach at Richard Bong State Recreation Area. Registration and packet pick-up starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 9:30 a.m. The run begins at 10 a.m, with hikers leaving immediately after.

This year the course will not be around Wolf Lake as the Blue Trail is still closed due to the removal of the dam. The route will go twice around the green hiking trail. Maps are available on the website. It is primarily flat with scattered hills. Strollers are not recommended and dogs are not allowed at the beach but are welcome on the trail.

Handmade pottery mugs will be given as awards to top runners in all age divisions and to overall winners. You don’t have to run to be part of this event. The hiking is great and refreshments, door prizes and music will be available to all participants following the event. Bring your family or get your co-workers together and come enjoy the day.

Race day registration is $35 and the day is a designated Park Open House day so no entrance fee is needed.

To receive a registration form or for more information, call (262) 878-5601, e-mail [email protected], stop by Richard Bong State Recreation Area or download one from the website: www.bongnaturalistassociation.org.
