With a Southern Lakes Conference title and a second-place finish to its credit, it’s certainly no surprise to see the Westosha Central boys and girls cross country teams well-represented on All-SLC teams.

For the third straight year, senior Melissa Capra was named the SLC’s female runner of the year, while junior Jacob Hebior earned that honor for the second consecutive season.

Capra and Hebior each won individual SLC titles late last month. The Central girls won the overall team title, while the boys were second.

Both squads closed out 2014 at the WIAA Division 1 State Meet. Capra became the first Central runner to finish in the top 10, as she was eighth overall.

Joining Capra on All-SLC teams from the girls squad were freshman Meghan Capra and senior Maria Sabourin, first team; freshman Mackenzie Maccaux and senior Maddie Murphy, second team; and Julia Alberth, honorable mention.

Four boys joined Hebior on All-SLC teams, including senior Shane McNealy, who was named to the first team. Junior Matthew Holloway and senior Lucas Leydens were second-team picks, while Patel Sheel was named honorable mention.

Wilmot had one boy and one girl honored, as Karter Krowe and Rebecca Alter were named honorable mention.
