Winter’s wrath roars back

ANT BLIZZARD webA lone pickup truck heads through blizzard conditions on an unrecognizable Main Street near First Street in Antioch, Ill., on Sunday. An all-day snow coupled with high winds – and the accompanying drifiting and low visibility – made all forms of outdoor travel a challenge, at best, and hazardous, at worst. Restaurants and taverns may have been the biggest casualties of the weather, as the business district was a ghost town on Super Bowl Sunday due to parking restrictions in effect because of the storm. With spring a mere seven weeks away, a cold snap with near-zero-degree temperatures is due to hit the area for the greater part of February’s first week. (Photo by Jude Kaider)
