Check welfare

      at 4:30 p.m., an officer was contacted about a welfare concern. There was a woman on N. Fifth Street who appeared to have a flat bicycle tire. The officer found the woman, and the woman said she was fine with walking her bike home;

Traffic

      at 10 p.m., an officer on N. Cogswell Drive witnessed a car going extremely fast for the speed zone it was in. Upon pulling the car over, the officer had the driver detained for reckless behavior. The 17-year-old said he was being tailgated, so he punched the gas. He had not been drinking, but was just an inexperienced driver. The driver was issued two citations.

 

Jan. 6

Vandalism

      at 4:30 p.m., a woman came into the station to report vandalism at her apartment complex she manages on S. Cogswell Drive. Someone had broken into the building and written obscenities on the walls. The woman believed it was a past tenant who was on bond, though he was not supposed to be around the apartments.

The police contacted the woman who used to live with the past tenant, and the woman had no contact with the tenant and did not believe it could have been him. The investigation is still ongoing.

 

Jan. 8

Probation violation

      at 1:48 a.m., a driver was stopped on N. Cogswell Drive. The operator was found to be under the influence of alcohol and on probation. The state put a hold on the man, and he was arrested and taken into Kenosha County Jail;

Suspicious

      at 2:12 p.m., on S. Cogswell Drive, an officer stopped to speak to two people because they were smoking and he felt the girl looked as if she was a minor. The girl produced and ID that proved she was 19 years old. The man with her had no ID but admitted to being out on parole. After confirming this, the officer offered them a ride to their friend’s, which they declined;

Disorderly conduct

      at 5:12 p.m., a disorderly subject was refusing to leave a tavern on Silver Lake Road. The officer met with the bartender, who had made a written and signed complaint of the patron’s conduct and actions. The subject was cited for disorderly conduct.

 

Jan. 9

Noise complaint

      at 9:31 a.m., a woman called the station from her residence on E. North Street saying that at 4:45 a.m. every morning, her neighbor would start his vehicle and let it idle for 15 minutes. The vehicle was extremely loud, and she had complained before;

OWI

      at 10:16 p.m., an officer was dispatched to E. Depot Street for a complaint of music being blasted in an open garage. In the garage was a vehicle with the motor running, windows open, and music blaring. The vehicle’s operator was found to be under the influence of intoxicants. After failing field sobriety tests, the operator was arrested.
