In a battle between two of the top pitchers in the Southern Lakes Conference April 24, it wasn’t even close.

Westosha Central softball, ranked second in the most recent Division 1 poll, scored four runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back in an 11-0, six-inning win over host Delavan-Darien, the state’s fourth-ranked Division 2 squad.

The win improved the Falcons to 9-2 overall and 4-0 in the SLC heading into road games Monday and Tuesday at Waterford and Elkhorn. Results from both contests were unavailable by press time.

Central put Friday’s game away with two more runs in the fourth inning and five in the sixth off Delavan junior hurler Jennah Speth. The Falcons took advantage of six Delavan errors.

Sophomore pitcher Alyssa Hrncar allowed just two hits, two walks and struck out 10 in the complete-game win.

Kira Mickelson had a huge day at the plate with a double, home run, two runs scored and two RBI, while Kayla Konwent had three hits and two RBI and Jenna Kontaxis two hits, two runs scored and an RBI.

Olivia Klean added a hit and two RBI, followed by Hrncar with a hit and two runs scored and Carrie Weis with two runs scored.

Central opened the week with a 4-0 win at Wilmot. The Falcons led 3-0 after two innings, and then added an insurance run in the fourth.
