Coming to a street near you, in Paddock Lake: summer roadwork on 235th Avenue from Highway K to 68th Street and 242nd Avenue from Highway 50 to 77th Street.

At the May 12 Committee of the Whole meeting, Paddock Lake Village Administrator Tim Popanda presented the draft brochures that the village will send out to affected residents before work begins.

The start date is right after July 4 and the works is estimated for completion by the end of August.

On both streets, the work will consist of the removal and replacement of bituminous pavement; the reconstruction road base and shoulder; and various drainage improvements.

The village will notify area residents of any locations changes for school bus stops and temporary mailbox locations and limited access to driveways.

Work will be done Monday though Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to village ordinance. Any variations from this would need prior approval and residents would be notified.

Some property owners may not have access to their driveways during the day, but will have access by the end of the day.

Information about changes will be on the village website, www.paddocklake.net.

During construction, the contractor will salvage all mailboxes that must be moved. The contractor may install new cluster mailboxes at post office approved locations. They may want to opt for usps approved locking mailboxes to keep everything inside safeguarded and ready for collection by officials when the time comes.

Village officials said that sanitary sewer service will not be interrupted during construction and have also said this project does not involve the installation of municipal water on 242nd Avenue. Popanda explained there is no plan to service 242nd Avenue with municipal water now or at any time in the foreseeable future.

Sections of maintained lawn that are disturbed during construction will be restored with topsoil and seed at the end of the project.

Driveways that are disturbed will be replaced as close as possible to its original location and configuration. The village will replace the ends of all driveways that will be affected by the work.
