Free Illinois Fishing Days set for June 5 to 8

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources hosts free fishing days throughout the state Saturday through Monday.

With the Chain o’ Lakes running through the heart of the area, it’s prime chance for anglers to introduce youngsters to the sport, according to the DNR.

During the free fishing promotion, no fishing license is required. It is a great opportunity for families to try fishing, without needing to purchase a license, according to DNR officials.

In addition to promoting the free fishing days, the DNR offers the following events and resources for those interested in fishing in Illinois:

  • The 24th annual Two Rivers Family Fishing Fair will be held at Pere Marquette State Park near Grafton, on June 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event features fun for children and families. For details, call (618) 786-3323.
