The Wilmot Union High School District Board of Education unanimously approved John LaFleur as the new principal at its June 10 board meeting.

LaFleur will officially take over for current principal Joel Adamcyzk beginning July 1.

“I’ve heard nothing but good things about the district from people who don’t even live here,” LaFleur said.

LaFleur had been an associate principal for the past 12 years in the Muskego-Norway School District. Previously, he was a social studies teacher at two different districts.

He earned his doctorate degree in educational leadership in 2010 from Cardinal Stritch University. He earned his master’s in educational administration in 2002 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

“We’re lucky to have him,” District Administrator Dan Kopp said.

LaFleur commented on how well the premises are taken care of and how much effort is put into making it look nice and updated.

“You can tell the community really cares,” he said.

Other business

In other news Wednesday, the board unanimously approved several bids for necessary equipment upgrades for the next school year. This included replacement computers, a food service oven, lighting control upgrades, business phone system upgrades, and copy machine replacement proposals. Regarding the new telephone system, the board is hopeful that switching to VoIP technology will remedy a number of existing IT problems.
