Breaking: Police capture Obregon in Illinois following carjacking

Law enforcement officials captured Kenosha County fugitive Andrew Obregon in Illinois just prior to 4 p.m. Tuesday following a vehicle chase, authorities have confirmed.

The car chase ended on Lewis Avenue just south of Russell Road in Lake County, Ill., according to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s office. Illinois law enforcement officers captured Obregon following a foot chase.

Just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth issued a news alert that Obregon, who has been on the run since Oct. 2, was believed to have been involved in a carjacking near his family’s home in the Town of Brighton.

According to radio communications, law enforcement chased the vehicle south on Green Bay Road toward the Illinois state line.

The search for Obregon was in its second week. He is a suspect in the murder of Tywon Anderson, who Beth named as a drug dealer at a press conference Monday evening in Kansasville.
