District eyes plan consultant

Trevor-Wilmot delves deeper into consolidation

The Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School Board on Dec. 1 continued to mull options related to the hiring of a consultant to conduct its strategic planning initiative.

For about a year, the district opted for a strategic plan, promoting its consolidation efforts.

Michelle Garven, school administrator, said she believes an outside agency can offer fresh insight.

“The use of a consultant provides an outside and objective perspective,” Garven said. “So that all parties feel there is neutral ground to brainstorm…this can create powerful outcomes.”

When prior administrator George Steffen retired in July after 11 years of service, the discussion stalled.

“This fall, the board asked me to contact organizations to provide presentations to the board on their process for strategic planning,” Garven said.
