Two of three incumbent trustees on the Twin Lakes Village Board have filed necessary paperwork for re-election on April 12.

Trustee Jeremy Knoll, who has served the board for 10 years, is still deliberating whether he will seek another two-year term.

“I am not sure yet. I am still debating,” Knoll said. “Maybe I will come to a decision this week.”

Trustees and residents interested in serving the Village Board were able to circulate nomination papers Dec. 1, with a Jan. 5 deadline for returning completed paperwork to qualify for a spot on the ballot.

According to Village Clerk Cathy Richardson, incumbent Thomas Connolly filed his nomination papers Dec. 1 and incumbent Barbara Andres submitted her interest in seeking re-election Dec. 11.

While two have sought re-election, residents are required to submit a minimum 20 signatures for nomination, the clerk said.

“Because we are a village, we recommend 20 to 100 signatures,” said Richardson. “With validation of signatures, it is best to have extra.”

With a field of seven candidates needed to force a Feb. 16 primary election, Richardson does not anticipate it will occur within the village.

In the 2014 election, both Knoll and Connolly won re-election with 347 and 278 votes, respectively in a field of five.

Andres, a first-term candidate, obtained 233 votes, ousting incumbent Mike Moran, who garnered 193.

Trustees are paid annually at $6,000.

Interested village residents have until 5 p.m. Jan. 5 to file nomination papers at the Village Hall, 108 E. Main St.

Lakewood School Board

Lakewood School Superintendent Joseph Price reports there have not been any declaration papers filed for the seats of two incumbents on the School District No. 4 of Twin Lakes Board.

Up for re-election are School President Amanda Hahn, who is in her first three-year term, and Clerk Kathy Ticha, who has served the district for at least 20 years.

Ticha and Hahn were elected with 135 and 116 votes, respectively, on April 2, 2013.

“We have not had any re-election filings nor any notification of non-candidacy,” Price said.

School Board members are paid $1,700 annually with an additional $200 for the board president.

Residents residing within district boundaries interested in serving the board are to file a Campaign Registration and a Declaration of Candidacy to at the school district office no later than 5 p.m. Jan 5.
