Randall to charge new homes $100 for address signs

Town seeks to maintain uniformity

While the Town of Randall already installed uniform address signs, the board unanimously approved a $100 fee for new buildings at its Thursday meeting.

In May, the town authorized the purchase of 16-by-8-inch signs at a cost, including installation, of $31.

The signs were installed in early October.

“We have just installed signs and moving forward, new home owners are required to purchase the 911 signs that the town will install,” said Randall Town Chairman Robert Stoll.

The move comes in response to requests from law enforcement and fire departments to improve their ability to find properties in emergencies.

Initially, the ordinance only applies to parcels with existing structures, but does not address vacant lots.

“It will cover any new homes so that we can have uniformity,” Stoller said.

Other municipalities, including the Village of Twin Lakes, have addressed the issue at recent board meetings.

Like Twin Lakes, the Town of Randall contracted with Lange signs to create uniform address labels.
