Wind advisory still in effect
Effective noon Thursday, the Fox River in New Munster will be under a flood warning by the National Weather Service in Sullivan.
The Fox River registered at 10.2 feet as of 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a flood stage of 11-feet.
According to the National Weather Service, the river is forecast to reach 11.4 feet by Thursday afternoon, and could cause accumulations of up to two-inches on 77th Street in the town of Wheatland.
The warning runs through Dec. 27, when forecasters expect the river could experience a steady decline of water levels.
Meanwhile, the wind advisory is still in effect through 6 a.m. Thursday, with gusts estimated between 40-50 mph.
The NWS issues wind advisories when sustained winds are at least 30 mph and gusts exceeding 45 mph are expected.
