Westosha Central junior Katrina Bostanche knocked in a team-leading 10 points in a 41-37 Southern Lakes Conference loss at Burlington last Thursday.

The 5-foot-7 forward’s 10-point performance is a career-high, but was not enough as the Demons came away with a 41-37 victory.

Westosha Central, who trailed 18-11 at halftime, mounted a second half comeback and outscored the Demons 26-23.

Mackenzie Zwiebel of Burlington scored a game-high 12 points, including a shot from beyond the arc.

Burlington improved to 4-3 in SLC with the narrow victory.

The Lady Falcons, who dropped to 2-12 (2-5 SLC), had nine points from Stephanie Dopuch.

Burlington 48, Westosha Central 27

In a Southern Lakes Conference dual meet, where only six matches were contested, the Falcons came away with two victories in a 48-27 loss against visiting Burlington Wednesday.

In the 106-pound division, Andrew Koroly and Burlington’s Zeke Isaacson went three rounds, with Koroly pinning the Demon with 14 seconds left in the match.

Zach Bell and Louie Hardesty of Burlington went the distance at 170 pounds, but the Westosha Central grappler came away with a 11-4 decision victory.

HOCKEY
Kenosha Thunder 5, Homestead 3

Wilmot Union High School’s Cody Faber netted two goals in a 5-3 victory at Homestead Friday.

Faber, one of the Panthers on the Kenosha combined squad, also pitched in with an assist on a goal by Max Maegaard in the third period to make it 4-3 at the time of the game.

Kyle Kuhfuss of Westosha Central added the fifth goal for the Thunder, with an assist by Christian Stoller.

The Thunder improved to 8-5 (2-3 Classic-8).
