Silver Lake Police Report

Dog bite

at 6:23 p.m., a woman came into the police department to report that while she was out walking her dog on N. Cogswell Drive, a black labrador came up and attacked her dog. The police identified the black lab’s owner, and when confronted with the injury, the lab’s owner agreed to pay any medical expenses. Police also checked that the electrical fence to house the lab was working properly.

 

Jan. 19

Missing juvenile

at 11:24 a.m., a mother living on W. Larch Street reported her daughter missing since 7 a.m. on Jan. 18. She advised that she and her daughter had been having numerous and escalating problems. Officers located the daughter at a friend’s in Paddock Lake and transported her to the department where her mother later picked her up.

 

Jan. 20

Family trouble

at 6:05 p.m., officers responded to Lakeview Drive where it was reported that a male and a female were arguing. After investigating, it was found there was no crime.

 

Jan. 21

Possession

at 3:45 p.m. on 3rd Court, officers were sent to an address in which the owners were out of town and there should not have been cars in the driveway. Officers found the entry door to be unlocked, so they announced themselves and went into the house. There they made contact with a middle-aged man found to be in possession of marijuana. Being under the influence of marijuana in the workplace can potentially jeopardize their own careers if faced with a marijuana drug test by their employers to determine whether or not they are high;

Trouble with kids

at 12:34 a.m., an officer on S. Fourth Street noticed a snowmobile crossing the road. Once stopped, the kids on the snowmobile said they were just heading home. Because they were out after curfew, the officer called the operator’s mother. She advised she would speak to her son in further detail about being home before curfew;

OWI

at 3:26 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle on 296th Avenue for an equipment violation. The 18-year-old operator was found to be under the influence of intoxicants and in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. The front seat passenger, a 15-year-old, was also found to be in possession of marijuana. Both subjects were arrested and cited for their offenses;

Rescue call

at 6:13 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Berwick Avenue on a report of a choking child. The child was conscious and breathing when the officer arrived. The child had picked up a pretzel off the floor and tried to eat it. When rescue arrived, the mother waived transport, and the officer was able to clear;

Rescue call

at 6:13 p.m., an officer was sent to Marti Court on a report that a female was complaining of severe chest pain, a severe headache, and difficulty breathing. Fire and Rescue transported the patient to Aurora Kenosha for further treatment.

 

Jan. 22

OWI

at 9:51 a.m., an officer pulled over a vehicle on 4th Court due to a cracked windshield. After stopping the vehicle, it was discovered that the 20-year-old operator was under the influence of intoxicants. The front seat passenger, also 20, was also found to be under the influence. They were both arrested and cited accordingly.

 

Jan. 24

Theft

at 10:17 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Prosser Court where a woman stated her unlocked vehicle was in her garage with the garage door closed earlier. Her family member noticed the garage open and her dome light on. Someone had gone into her vehicle and stolen three of her credit cards. Investigation is pending.

 

Jan. 25

Family trouble

at 6:18 p.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance on S. Cogswell Drive. The couple was going through a divorce and was arguing over marital property.
