Panthers wrestler Jake Morgan could have redemption Saturday night at the WIAA Division 1 state finals when he takes on Stoughton’s Collin Kraus for the 145-pound title.

The Wilmot Union High School senior moved forward to the state championship following a 2-1 overtime victory against 38-6 Aidan Yde of Hartland Arrowhead Friday.

Morgan entered the state tournament as the No. 2-ranked wrestler in Division 1, sporting a 38-1  record, losing his only match against Kraus in the sectional championship in Verona last week, 3-2.

The 145-pound wrestler forged ahead at the state tournament, starting with a 12 second injury default victory against Rhinelander’s Jake DeMeyer (41-7), followed by a 5-4 quarterfinal decision against West Allis Hale’s Oliver Arena (37-9).

Morgan (40-1) is slated to take on Kraus (50-2) 6 p.m. Saturday at University of Wisconsin’s Kohl Center in Madison.

The Wilmot senior’s title appearance supplants his finish from last year, when he placed fifth at 138.
