Eight senior boys at Wilmot Union High School plan to strut their talents and wardrobes in the annual Mr. Wilmot at 6 p.m. March 18.

The Mr. Wilmot pageant is organized through the school’s Business and Information Technology Department with proceeds benefiting its Marketing and Business Association, a combination of DECA and FBLA.

In the male pageant, seniors are judged in several categories, according to Travis Wetzel, the school’s IT instructor.

Categories include casual wear, sportswear, talent and formal wear and has expanded to other entertaining elements, he said.

“Over the years, the show has evolved to include live skits, talents and videos that typically cause hard belly laughs,” Wetzel said.

The show’s emcees are seniors Teya Gaines and Matt O’Connell, and all eight contestants are assigned escorts.

Khol Rohrman, who is escorting Nick Rainey, said the annual event not only brings in students, but it draws an entire community.

“Mr. Wilmot has been a tradition that brings the whole community together for a night full of laughter,” Rohrman said.

Wetzel agreed, stating attendance goes beyond the student body, with some families and friends coming to support the eight contestants.

“Many students, staff, parents and family come to see these guys on stage,” Wetzel said.

The talents of the eight seniors can be a surprise to people, and there will be a series of twists and turns, including the opening performance.

“The opening dance is always a big hit,” Wetzel said.

“Not only will the night be entertaining, but also full of many surprises,” Rohrman said. “I can’t give anything away, but I think this will be a performance unlike any other put on at Wilmot.”

Advance ticket sales of $5 each open March 7 at “The Paw,” the school store, with a jump to $8 at the door the night of production.

The eight contestants seeking the title of Mr. Wilmot are Evan Ball (escorted by Morgan Sullivan), Matt Phillips (Madi DaMask), Mason Markee (Ellie Turner), Luke Rogness (Kiana Vazquez), Sean Collins (Sarah Strasser), Bobby Brenner (Sawyer Wightman), Josh Schroeder (Sam Schloegl) and Nick Rainey (Rohrmann).

When all eight take the stage, Rohrman said she knows they can provide a night of entertainment.

“No doubt these guys have talent, but along with that they have great humor,” she said.
