Twin Lakes native and current Nashville rock singer Megan Ruger wanted to play near her hometown since December of last year.

Ruger, otherwise known as Megan Pflueger, a former contestant of “The Voice” and “American Idol” was granted her wish by Bella Vita owner Brian Boeckenstedt Friday.

Boeckenstedt has known the 28-year-old since she worked as a golf cart attendant at Hawks View Golf Course in Lake Geneva.

“She wanted to come in December, but we didn’t have time to set up and promote it,” Boeckenstedt said. “Then she got a hold of me about two months and said she would be in the area.”

This time around, it worked, and she said her return excited her, noting her hometown roots.

Before she pursued her National dreams, she sang the National Anthem at Country Thunder from the time she was 16 until she left for Nashville at 20.

“I love coming home,” she said. “I am bit of a Country girl, I fish, I hunt, I have snowmobiled and skied.”
