Brighton woman found dead in Kenosha County jail

A 35-year-old Town of Brighton woman awaiting a preliminary hearing on felony burglary and bail jumping charges was found dead Saturday in Kenosha County’s Pre-Trail Detention facility.

Bonnie Kimberly, found hanging in the cell, was held in Kenosha County jail since April 7 on a $3,500 bond according to online jail records.

In a Sheriff’s Department press release, corrections staff discovered Kimberly Saturday morning, and tried several times to revive her.

“Life-saving measures, cardio pulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automated external defibrillator, were conducted by correctional officers and on site nursing staff,” the release stated.

The Kenosha Fire Department transported Kimberly to Kenosha Memorial Hospital, where critical care unit staff continued attempts to revive her, but she was pronounced dead shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday.

“The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department summoned the assistance of the Racine County Sheriff’s Department to investigate the death of this inmate,” the release stated.

The Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the scene.
