The broken pump that led to the cancellation of classes at Wilmot Union High School has been replaced Tuesday, but school remains closed until Thursday, pending the outcome of testing results conducted Wednesday.

Wilmot cancelled classes Monday while maintenance personnel tried to restore water, but according to District Administrator Dan Kopp, there was damage to the well pump.

Damage necessitated the school to shut its doors for another two days.

“Our well pump is shot,” Kopp said Monday afternoon. “School is out on Wednesday as well so we can verify the water is OK.”

Kopp reported on Tuesday evening the school spent $26,000 to replace the pump.

Additionally, he said the facility lost its entire water supply.

“We lost 100 percent of our water. The pump broke,” he said. “It has been replaced and they are flushing the lines right now.”

Wilmot canceled the only game on Monday’s home slate, Wilmot softball against non conference opponent Kenosha Bradford.

The other two WIAA sports, track visited Johnsburg, Ill and boys golf played at Lake Geneva Badger.

Furthermore, all community education programs were canceled Monday.

All home athletic events went as scheduled Tuesday, including a softball match-up between Union Grove and Wilmot.

Before the school gave students Tuesday and Wednesday off, Kopp said there would not be a makeup day.
