Not only did the Panthers 400-meter relay squad break a school record Thursday at Westosha Central, they also etched their names on top of the state rankings.

Wilmot Union High School’s team of Anthony Poco, Anthony Klein, Jayden Jesse and Evan Orre finished first in the nine school Z-Invite with a registered time of 43.81 seconds.

The first-place finish puts them atop the state rankings, according to athletic.net.

According to Panthers track coach Norm Preo, the team broke their own school record, originally set in 1987.

The accomplishments for Poco and Jesse extend beyond the 400-meter team, including a first-place finish in 1,600 relay squad that had Matt Cieslak and Zac Schroeder, notching a time of 3 minutes, 30.19 seconds.
