Westosha Central has won nine straight softball games after a 10-0 five-inning shutout against Elkhorn Wednesday.

With the win, Westosha Central jumped to 7-1 in the Southern Lakes Conference and 11-1 overall.

The Lady Falcons, who won 5-0 against Delavan-Darien Monday, courtesy of Alyssa Hrncar’s second career no-hitter had a near identical result Wednesday.

Hrncar struck out eight hitters, walked three and allowed one hit against the Elks Wednesday.

On Monday, Hrncar fanned six and walked three against Delavan-Darien.

Westosha Central co-coach Tom Lampe said the key for Hrncar in the Elkhorn game was the weather, emphasizing the need to keep the ball in play.

Senior Chy Onstad, who hit her sixth home run Monday, knocked in the first run of the game on a first-inning single, plating Hrncar (2-4, two runs, two RBIs).

Onstad batted 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Following a Kira Mickelson (3-3) single to load the bases, junior Olivia Klean drove in senior catcher Kayla Konwent on a ground out.

The Lady Falcons poured on five runs the following inning, starting with an Elaine Andersen walk, and after two errors, Hrncar tripled in senior Julia Jester and freshman Kayla Kerkman.

Hrncar eventually scored on an Onstad single.

Westosha Central added two other runs on a hits by Mickelson and Klean.

In the fourth inning, sophomore Jenna Kontaxis scored on a single by Carrie Weis, who was knocked in by Jester.

Elkhorn pitcher Rachel Gosh, who threw 4 2/3 innings, loaded the bases for the Lady Falcons in the fifth inning.

With two outs in the fifth, Gosh threw a wild pitch, sending Kontaxis home for the last run of the game.

Gosh allowed nine earned runs on 12 hits, walked seven and struck out three.

The Elks dropped to 3-8 (2-5 SLC) with the loss.
