In a completion of a rain suspended Southern Lakes Conference showdown, Wilmot Union High School routed host Lake Geneva Badger, behind three home runs and 19 hits attributed to the Badgers’ costly errors.

Following the May 6 win that started April 27, the Lady Panthers jumped to 6-5 in the SLC and 10-7 overall, while the Badgers dropped to 0-11 in the SLC.

Junior Hayli Richards, who went 2 for 3 with four RBI and three runs, hit the first of three home runs, belting a two-run shot in the third inning.

In the Lady Panthers’ fourth inning where they plated 13 runs, junior Kalyssa Koehn hit a two-run home run followed by a senior Alyssa Horn grand slam and gave Wilmot a 27-4 edge entering the bottom of the fourth.

Taking the loss for Badger was Kaitlyn McManus, who lasted three innings, allowed 14 runs (three earned), walked six and struck out one.

Koehn knocked in a team-leading five runs, batting 3 for 4 with a double and three runs scored, also picked up the win with eight strikeouts through five innings, where she allowed four earned runs on seven hits and walked four.

Horn finished 2 for 5 with a double and three runs scored.

Other contributors were sophomore Montana Platts (2 for 4, four runs, double, three RBI), junior Riley Regnier (4 for 5, four runs, double, RBI) and senior Shauna Lass (3 for 4, three runs, three RBI).

Burlington 4, Wilmot 2
The Lady Panthers dropped its second game against Burlington May 5 after the Demons scored in the bottom of the first, followed by back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning.

After a first inning run-scoring single by Jaina Westphal, scoring Kira Allen, and third-inning fielders choice plating Westphal, the Lady Panthers fell behind 2-0.

However, Koehn diminished the lead in the fourth inning with a double to score Montana Platts.

Burlington (6-4 SLC) responded in the fifth with solo home runs by Talyn Lewis and Josie Klein.

Wilmot 7, Delavan-Darien 4
Wilmot avenged an early season loss to Delavan-Darien courtesy of Sarah Hutchinson’s nine strikeouts in a 7-4 complete game.

Hutchinson, who picked up her team-leading seventh win, walked four and allowed four earned runs on seven hits.

The junior helped her own cause, batting 2 for 4 with two RBI and a double.

In the first inning, Montana Platts plated a run on a wild pitch and a Horn run-scoring single.

After the Comets tied it in the third when Jennah Speth hit a two run home run, the Panthers responded with a three-run fourth inning.

Hutchinson hit a leadoff home run and a pair of runs scored on fielding errors.

“Sarah’s strength and endurance has improved as the season has gone on, and her late game performance has shown improvement recently as a result,” said Panthers’ coach Pat Dopke.”

Clinging to a 5-3 lead entering the seventh, Riley Regnier led off with a double. Hutchinson knocked Regnier in with a double of her and later scored on a Annalise Devall double.

“Riley has a powerful swing, and when her timing is on she hits the ball hard,” Dopke said.

Jennah Speth, who took the loss despite 11 strikeouts, added her second home run of the game in the seventh.

Speth allowed five earned runs on 12 hits for Delavan-Darien.

Delavan-Darien dropped to 13-3 overall (4-3 SLC) following the loss to Wilmot.
